Sleep, sleep, sleep my child Hear a mockingbird song off a Chattanooga mile Wildwood flowers on a sunny hill smile Dream of Tennessee mornings Far, far away from here One day you're gonna be free and clear Trade the London hustle for a small town career Go to work in Tennessee mornings Sleep, sleep, sleep my child A red phone booth with a Nashville dial Take an overnight flight, grab a seat on the aisle Wake up in Tennessee mornings Will you ever get married? Sisters, I don't know If I find a southern gent, then I do suppose He can have my ring finger if he shows me the light Wakes me up in Tennessee mornings Sleep, sleep, sleep my child Wear a white cotton dress old Knoxville style Iris flowers on a firewood pile Dream of Tennessee mornings Bones, bones and barbecue Ribs and sweet tea about an hour til noon I'm perfectly content with nothin to do But waste away a Tennessee morning Slow, slow your horses down Meet a well mannered boy from Cookeville town Says, 'yes ma'am' and 'no sir,' he lays a jacket down Chivalrous in Tennessee mornings Sing, sing all night long Carter family tunes, old Bristol songs Appalachian music where it belongs Into the Tennessee mornings Chorus Sleep, sleep, sleep my child Like a Memphis lady with her Mississippi wiles Funny little catfish carry steamboat guile Into the Tennessee mornings Sleep, sleep, sleep my child Hear a mockingbird song off a Chattanooga mile Wildwood flowers on a sunny hill smile Dream of Tennessee mornings

about

A collection of music in the traditional styles of Tennessee recorded in a few days in the last days of The Young Republic. Not enough original members left to consider it a true YR record. This was a record we printed specifically to sell while busking around the country. We sold over 2,000 just out of Kristin's violin case. Maybe we should have been an old time band...
